Regular Meeting Minutes
September 11, 2008
Present:
Mayor W. Hewitt
Deputy Mayor A. Alexander
Councillor M. Rideout
Councillor A. Chaffey
Absent with Regrets:
Councillor C. Pelley
Also Present:
C. Fry, Town Clerk/Manager
Karen Morris, Heritage Project Coordinator.
Meeting was called to order by the Mayor at 7:30 pm.
Ms. Morris reported on progress to date noting the following:
* Shelving and display units must be considered as items are donated to the
museum
* Data base is being compiled which will enable the museum to be interact with
other heritage collectors across Canada
* She is searching for items and documents from the Cormack schools
* An open house is scheduled for last of September to introduce interested
persons in the project
* The importance of appointing members to a heritage board
* The use of flyers, pamphlets and ‘face book’’ to spread word of the project.
Ms. Morris left at approximately 8:15 pm.
Deputy Mayor Alexander was excused for a short time and returned to his chair at
approximately 8:30 pm.
Copies of the Minutes of the Regular Meeting of August 14, 2008 were circulated
to Councillors.
|Adoption of Minutes|
Resolution 008-077: Alexander/Chaffey
4 for, 0 opposed, carried
Resolved that the Minutes of the August 14, 2008 Regular Meeting be adopted as
presented.
Noting that Councillors Rideout and Pelley were incorrectly recorded as present.
Change can be made to reflect this.
|2007 Municipal Audit|
Documents were signed by Mayor and Clerk where required.
Resolution 008-078: Alexander/Rideout
4 for, 0 opposed, carried
Acceptance of the 2007 Municipal Audit is Resolved.
|Permits and Applications|
From: Hayward Brake
Project: to construct and operate a 20 beef cattle barn from property at
Tamarack Drive in the Agricultural zone
Resolution 008-079: Alexander/Chaffey
4 for, 0 opposed, carried.
Resolved that the applications submitted are approved with the condition that
projects comply with the town’s development regulations and are referred to the
Departments of Natural Resources, and Government Services for compliance with
government regulations.
The Mayor reported on activities within the Corner Brook - Humber Valley
Regional Planning Authority.
|Recreation|
Cormack Recreation Commission bank account balance at end of August $5947.16
Cormack Rec Bar bank account balance at end of August $2901.32.
New rates will be resolved for hall rentals effective first of 2009.
|Public Works|
The Mayor placed his signature on the 2008-2009 contract with Humber Valley
Paving, witnessed by Deputy Mayor Alexander.
The Town will notify HVP that this year’s supply of material should be placed at
the quarry for the Town’s use as stated in contract.

Resolved that the accounts presented for payment be paid as funds allow.
The Mayor left the table at this time to allow consideration of his application
requesting permission to tear down and replace a small chicken shed on his
property. Deputy Mayor Alexander chaired the consideration.
Resolved 008-081: Chaffey/Rideout
3 for, 0 opposed, carried
Resolved that permission be granted for the above.
Deputy Mayor returned the chair to the Mayor.
Resolution 008-082: Chaffey/Alexander
4 for, 0 opposed, carried.
Meeting adjourned at 10:00 pm.
